[ nancy's not exactly sure when this became her new normal either. a lot's changed since jonathan moved away, since they... broke up? yeah, they broke up. grew apart. it had only been a few months since jonathan left, so was there really even time for them to grow apart? whatever. the details don't matter. what matters is that nancy's getting used to life now - having mike in high school with her, being a senior. trying to figure out if she can even afford to think about going to college out of state when it seems like hawkins is being threatened by a new monster at least once a year. y'know. teenager things.
but another change, one that's not so bad or even bad at all, is that she's found a study buddy and friend(? are they friends? ) in robin.
it's actually kind of refreshing, having someone around that has similar priorities as her. mostly. they agree that school and their GPAs are important, at least.
so when robin asks if they really need to study, she just gives her a look ]
We might not need to, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't. Mr. C loves to throw curveball questions on his tests, you know that.
It was really kind of endearing- a sort of look only Nancy could get away with and Robin would find it charming. Is this what Steve saw in her all that time? She shouldn't even be thinking about how cute she is when she's serious like this. ]
Yes, but we've been at this for over an hour.
[ Switching from her 'we don't need to study' train of thought to a more sensible one: ]
We deserve a break. Don't you think? We don't want to totally burn out on information and then not remember anything for the test, right?
[ No, she does't know where she's going with this. She doesn't even know why she keeps glancing at Nancy's lips, or why she scoots closer to her by a few inches. ]
Right?
[ Repeating the question, she pouts her lower lip out at Nancy.]
