So far I've had three pairs of kitten heels show up in my closet, but they don't seem to think an extra box or two of shells would be useful. It would almost be funny if it wasn't actually completely ludicrous.
I'd make the argument that I'd much rather just be James Bond, but I'm pretty sure he never carried a shotgun. Maybe a revolver? But I doubt it.
can you stab anyone with the kitten heels?[ what do kittens have to do with anything here, wheeler? ]i've had weed, my guitar, and books show up but nothing even close to weaponry so i think we're shit out of luck there.
a revolver for sure and a lot of fancy futuristic technology. i think he had lasers! shit. imagine lasers against the monsters. we'd be set.
No, unfortunately not. I actually can't imagine a scenario where trying to stab someone with a kitten heel would actually be effective. However, if my stilettos show up? Then we might have something we can work with.
[ because of course karen got her a pair of proper high heels for her 16th birthday. she's literally never worn them, but she does own a pair. and now she's actually hoping that they show up. yikes. desperate times. ]
i'm gonna pretend like i know the difference here, wheeler. i'm gonna guess stilettos are sharp and stabby.[ but if it's the stabby kind, can she walk in them on cobblestone and run from monsters? if so? badass. ]
my copy of 'the fellowship of the ring' showed up. i guess this place was feeling sentimental.
Kitten heels are much smaller, less than an inch. My Stilettos have a three inch heel. Two inches might not seem like much, but it can make a huge difference when it comes to don't you dare eddie munson don't say anything I already know how that sounded and I was going to say it makes a huge difference when it comes to how well it would actually work as a weapon.
[ he definitely spends a few minutes cackling and preparing to tease before deciding to give nancy a break. ]whatever do you mean? i am the epitome of innocence. a little lamb. i wouldn’t have said a thing.
weaponry. right, right.
and it was my mom’s.[ but anyway! ]not very useful, huh?
A little lamb! He says, to the girl who practically invented weaponizing disarmingly curly locks like ours.
[ to be fair, it did make her laugh. but then he goes and unexpectedly slings something soft at her, and that sobers her up pretty quick ]
As someone who's been dealing with this kind of shit for way, way too long, I promise you that something special like that will actually be very useful.
Maybe not all of them. Just the most powerful one of all.
[ nancy drew makes her wince, sort of, with a fleeting moment of ugh at the memory of the last group of assholes that loved to call her that. and the thought only comes and goes as quickly as it does because she knows eddie is literally nothing like them. so she actually doesn't mind it, coming from him. ]
We just need to find you something secure to keep it in, that's all. Like a lockbox, or something. I'll keep an eye out for you.
I imagine that it actually could still work, if the timing is right. They would really just need to have their guard down, then it's totally open season.
As long as you're not still using it for lunch...
Nope. I think it's plenty important, just much as anything else is. And I'm in charge remember? So whatever I say, goes.
or they need to be a sucker. do we know any suckers?
nope. only for grass. heavenly good stuff.
are we still playing it that way? harrington did say you were still the brains of the operation and given no one’s taking my idea of codewords seriously, i believe it.
Considering I only know three other people here besides you, I feel like answering that question might get me in a little trouble.
[ which is as good as saying "harrington. harrington is a sucker." isn't it? oops. :D ]
Hey, what do you mean "playing it that way"? It *is* that way. But run the codeword idea by me one more time? Do you really think we might need something like that?
It could work. Maybe. Vecna quite literally got into our heads, so... he would know. Right? [ except then how did he not know all about the plan to kill him, as soon as he sashayed into max's mind? it's a mystery ] And if anything, it would give him another piece of reality to make the vision seem that much more real. Not that he's here, obviously, but all just to say that I don't know if it would work against a threat like him.
Do you think we might actually run into evil clones of ourselves here..? It's not impossible, I guess.
[ ....look she's trying ok she wants to hear him out!!! ]
he would but maybe the monsters here don't? i don't know, nancy, this doesn't feel very vecna like anymore.
but fine, it doesn't work against anything that can read our minds. [ but it would make him feel so much better so don't take this away from him!! ]maybe?
the monster that chases me is pretty specific to me so... why not this place coming up with an evil clone? [ or is he the evil clone and maybe it'll come up with an eddie people would like, find more palatable? that's a possibility too. ]
It doesn't. And yet I'm still ready to hear the clock's chime at any moment. Okay, okay. You're right, we don't know for sure. And we'll have no way of knowing until it happens. So. Okay. What did you pick for your codeword? Has anyone else picked one yet?
hopefully we don't. but i don't know how he could make this worse.
hey now! this network thing could be monitored. watergate style, wheeler. i'm totally not revealing any major identifying secrets like that while someone could be listening in.
you'll have to pick one and find out in person! also don't repeat it to anyone outside of the group.
Maybe. But I'm not counting him out just yet. For someone who really only pinpoints a person's baseline insecurities and then turns them into a nightmare, he is surprisingly creative.
[ no biggie, though. vecna finding his way into her mind definitely hasn't gotten under nancy's skin enough that she questions if any of this is even real on a daily basis or anything.......... and, well, shit. it definitely didn't occur to nancy that their phones could be tapped. forget about code words, they need code phrases. ]
I really wish we didn't need to rely on these things so much. I mean, I have a walkie-talkie, and Steve does too, but they basically eat through batteries, so they should really only be used for emergencies.
[ well the point of a word is you use it in a phrase so really he's got you on that front, nancy! ]yeah, me too.
the technology isn't safe, nothing's safe.
i guess we have to stick around each other more often or think up some emergency plans for when things go sideways? like where we meet up or what do we do. you might have to be in charge of those.

i keep forgetting that all the shit back home was going on for years and no one knew. how oblivious is hawkins?
and sure, as long as it’s safe here. would suck if it falls apart after all this time. i don’t think i can sew it back together again.

i think we’ll need the lockbox for something a bit more important than any of my stuff. but i appreciate it.

true, true. my apologies for questioning it, fair lady!
if a clone, evil or fake version of us shows up, we need a word that’ll identify who’s the real person and who isn’t.
vecna did shit like that in dreams, right? why can’t it happen here?
